Guanajuato’s menu is a delightful journey through Mexican gastronomy. Start your meal with a comforting bowl of Caldo de Camaron at just $10.50, a shrimp soup brimming with fresh flavors that will awaken your taste buds. For something heartier, opt for the Mole de Olla, a traditional meat and vegetable soup that embodies the soul of Mexican home cooking for $9.50.

The main courses, or platillos, are the true stars of the menu. Featuring the tantalizing Cazuelazo Plate for $13.00, which offers a robust mix of grilled meat and aromatic spices, or the savory Alambres Plate for $12.50, both promise to satisfy your cravings for authentic Mexican fare. If you're adventurous, don’t miss the Mojarra, a fried fish delicacy for $12.50 that will transport you straight to the coastal shores of Mexico.

Real customer experiences at Guanajuato emphasize the unmatched quality and authenticity of the food. Bryan Heatherington describes his discovery with glee, exclaiming, “Omg... I thought N.C didn't have good Mexican food. My how I was wrong!” He praises the speed of service even amidst a bustling crowd—something you’ll surely appreciate on your visit. Another satisfied patron, Evelyn Servin, raves about the homemade corn tortillas provided with each dish—indicating that dine-in guests get to enjoy a feast without having to share! In her words, "it's extremely affordable and the quantity of food is abundant!"

With each meal crafted with passion and care, it’s clear that the culinary team at Guanajuato takes great pride in delivering genuine Mexican cuisine. And just like Khaleel Bremby aptly puts it, dining here gives you the feeling of enjoying a meal made by someone’s abuela—truly capturing the essence of home-cooked Mexican comfort food.

Omg... I thought N.C didn't have good Mexican food. My how I was wrong. Durham has it covered. Found this place, recommended by my fellow workers. Can't say enough of how lucky I was to discover such a place. Check out my dinner, Mole and Tacos! 5 star all the way! Don't mind the line of people ordering. The food comes fast and often. I'm happy as can be!

We had steak Mexicano and I forgot the name of the other one(chicken, rice, bean, salad). They were soooo good and they gave you a lot of food for this price. It's about $15-16 each. It's a small restaurant next to a gas station and you wouldn't imagine they have such good food. Most people who dine here are local Hispanic and you can tell food would be food. The only thing is that the mean is kind of hard to read so if you are new, it may take quite a while to read it. But for sure will be back next time.

This is TRULY an authentic Mexican restaurant with dishes from the state of Mexico. I am very picky about my Mexican food and this here left me talking numerous times about how delicious things were. Also with every dish each person gets their own homemade corn tortillas (5-6) so you have enough to eat with your food! You don't have to share!! It is extremely affordable and the quantity of food you get is enormous. I kid you not. Everything is freshly prepared and served hot! I will always come back here to eat. Note- a local told us that the wait times to be seated are loooong so a lot of people call in to order food and enjoy at home.

Soooo starting off I believe they have recently rebranded and remodeled. I say that only because I came from a video I saw on social media and I wasn’t sure if I was going to the right place or not. I definitely recommend coming here if you want to enjoy some good Quesa Birria. I enjoyed the experience. Food was amazing atmosphere was nice if you like some good authentic Mexican food, I would definitely stop by.

Very good authentic style Mexican place in Durham. Small so it gets packed and waits happen. Camerones a la Diabla was spicy in a good way. The torta was stuffed. The Pozele was authentic!

The food was hot and fast. I ordered 3 chorizo tacos and they were a little salty. The salsa was spicy and delicious. Next time I’ll get a variety of tacos.

10/10 it was perfect. I love little spots like this. You can tell someone’s abuela is back there doing her thing . Please go check this place out. It brings that feeling like you’re eating real Mexican food, not something another culture is trying to imitate.
